Seeds for the Sol is a nonprofit, grassroots organization taking action now to remove the financial barriers to residential energy efficiency. Our neighbor-to-neighbor funding model mimics the natural cycles of planting, harvesting, and renewal, helping more households move toward net zero. This funding model addresses climate mitigation and adaptation, energy equity and outreach, and workforce development by making affordable housing more energy efficient.
Seeds for the Sol is committed to nurturing climates of compassion and inclusivity for all clients, volunteers, and employees. We envision collaborative community environments that engage civility and embrace diversity. We are committed to equitable access to energy efficiency and project outcomes that honors each client’s race, culture, socioeconomic status, language, ability, gender, gender expression, and sexual orientation, resulting in community engagement.
If we all electrify and improve efficiency, we can win the climate change game.
We run outreach and education campaigns to inform homeowners, renters and landlords about the incentives at Federal, State and Local levels, for energy efficiency upgrades.
For income-qualified homeowners, and landlords of income-qualified tenants we provide continued guidance, a free home energy assessment, vetted contractors list, form for accessing incentives, and zero- interest loans to complete upgrades.
We specialize in serving marginalized populations and design our marketing and outreach to fit specific demographics, i.e., low-income, people with disabilities, LGBTQ, Latinx, etc.
We provide a catalog of energy efficiency measures and track the energy cost savings and CO2e savings.
We seek out woman owned, BIPOC owned, emerging contractor businesses to support their growth.
